Setting your computer to 1024 x 768 Resolution

Follow these steps to change your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 resolution. Windows XP was used in the pictures below, but the steps are the similar for most windows systems.

Move your cursor over the desktop of your computer (minimize or close all windows and/or go to a part of your screen with no icons or windows on it) and press the right mouse button. Left-handed users with their mouse setup for the left hand should use the left mouse button.

Select Properties from the pop-up menu.

Click on the Settings tab.

On the bottom left is the Screen Resolution bar. Move the slider until the resolution shows 1024 x 768 (or any higher resolution your monitor supports).

Click the OK button.

The screen will turn temporarily black. Some systems may go into a 15-second 'test' mode to check for compatibility with the new settings (you will be prompted if this occurs). When the screen comes back, if all looks OK, the computer may ask if you want to keep these settings. Click Yes. If your PC goes into a 15-second test mode and you get no picture or 'jumbled' output for 15 seconds, do NOT accept the new settings.
